What is glassine release paper
Glassine starts from high-purity wood pulp and is supercalendered into a dense, smooth, compact sheet. A release coating is then applied to this even base, turning the sheet into a release liner: a self-adhesive material laid on the surface peels away cleanly with a controlled, predictable force, leaving no residue and no fibre tear. The difference from plain glassine is exactly this coating — glassine release paper is already the functional release layer, not a base paper awaiting further treatment. Because the glassine base is dense and smooth, the coating sits evenly, the sheet dies and strips cleanly, and the liner runs and peels reliably on label and converting lines.
Key material properties
- Controlled, stable release. Release force is set for the job — lighter for fast dispensing, tighter for die-cutting and transfer — and stays even across a roll and over time, so adhesives peel away cleanly with predictable force.
- Dense, smooth glassine base. The supercalendered sheet is compact and even, giving the coating a smooth carrier and the liner strength and flatness through converting.
- Clean die-cutting and matrix stripping. The liner cuts cleanly, holds together during die-cutting and waste stripping, and dispenses without tearing or dusting on high-speed lines.
- Dimensional and ageing stability. The sheet stays flat and stable through the humidity and temperature swings of normal converting and storage, keeping liner and face stock aligned through printing, lamination and dispensing.
- Options for electronics work. Anti-static and low-contamination treatments can be arranged for electronic die-cutting and clean converting.
