A label that blisters, curls or smears the moment it meets water costs more than the label itself — relabelled goods, unreadable batch codes, damaged pallet loads and a shelf that looks neglected. Cold-room condensation, a spilled drink, a wiped-down bottle and a rainy loading bay are ordinary working conditions, not edge cases.

We supply waterproof labels built for those conditions: film face stocks — PP, PET, PVC or synthetic paper — that do not absorb water, paired with an adhesive that keeps its grip on damp and cold surfaces, and a print surface that stays legible after handling, wiping and short immersion. Supplied as rolls or sheets, printed to your artwork.

Where Waterproof Labels Are Used

Wherever a label has to survive water, moisture or condensation:

  • Food and beverage — chilled drinks, sauces, frozen and chilled packs.
  • Personal care and household — bottles, tubes and wet-area shelf products.
  • Cold chain and fresh produce — chilled transport cartons, batch and date coding.
  • Outdoor and logistics — equipment plates, outdoor storage marking, freight labels.
  • Industrial and chemical — container marking, cleaning agents and lubricant labels.

Need a direct-thermal version for the same wet environments? See Triple-Proof Thermal Labels. For outdoor, UV-exposed asset tags, see Synthetic Paper Labels.

Key Features

Film face stocks that do not absorb water

PP and PET film does not take up water the way paper does, so the printed surface stays intact under condensation, splashes and short immersion instead of cockling or smearing — fewer relabels in cold rooms, wet aisles and wash-down areas.

Adhesive that holds on damp and cold surfaces

An acrylic adhesive keeps its initial tack and shear strength on cool, humid and slightly wet surfaces, so edges stay down on bottles, containers and cartons rather than lifting or peeling — labels stay put through the whole cold chain, not just on the application line.

Resists everyday chemicals and handling

Face stocks and optional laminates resist water, oils and common cleaning agents, so barcodes and batch text remain readable after wiping, handling and normal transport abrasion — fewer scanning errors and less rework.

Printed and cut to your specification

Flexo, letterpress, screen, UV inkjet and thermal transfer printing are all supported, and labels are die-cut to shape as rolls or sheets — so the label fits your container geometry and your production line rather than the other way round.

Technical Specifications

  • Face stock: PP, PET, PVC or synthetic paper (gloss white, clear, matte silver, bright silver and other finishes)
  • Adhesive: permanent acrylic; removable grade available on request
  • Liner: glassine or PET release liner, depending on converting process
  • Printing: flexo, letterpress, screen, UV inkjet, thermal transfer
  • Format: rolls or sheets; die-cut to size and shape
  • Surface options: lamination or varnish on request
  • Water, chemical and temperature performance: confirmed against the selected face stock and adhesive grade for your application

Tell us the container, the surface it is applied to and the conditions it must survive, and we will confirm the face stock, adhesive and finish.

How to Select and Order

  • Choose the face stock by how much water it must take — splashes and condensation are handled by standard PP or PET; prolonged wet handling or a need for greater stiffness points to PVC or synthetic paper.
  • Choose the adhesive by the surface and the temperature — glass, HDPE and PET containers, and chilled or frozen application, each call for a different grade; tell us the substrate and we will match it.
  • Choose transparent or opaque by design — clear film for a "no-label look" on glass and clear bottles; gloss white or metallised finishes where the print itself must carry the shelf.

MOQ, lead time and freight depend on material, size and quantity — send your specification and volume and we will quote.

FAQ

  • How is this different from "triple-proof" thermal labels? Triple-proof refers to direct-thermal paper labels that resist water, oil and scratching; they are imaged by the printer. Waterproof labels described here are film face stocks that you print or thermal-transfer, and they are chosen for their base material rather than a coating.
  • Can they be used in chilled or frozen conditions? Yes — select a low-temperature adhesive grade and confirm it against your application temperature. Tell us the temperature range and the surface, and we will specify the grade.
  • Can they be applied to a damp surface? Light surface moisture is normally acceptable with the right adhesive grade. Standing water is not — the surface should be wiped before application.
  • Clear or white? Clear film gives a "no-label look" on glass and clear containers; gloss white or metallised finishes give higher contrast for barcodes and batch text.
  • Can I test before ordering? Yes — request samples and check adhesion and print on your own containers and in your own conditions before you commit a specification.

Bofeng New Materials supplies waterproof labels to food and beverage brands, cold-chain operators, converters and industrial buyers as part of its Eco Labels range. Tell us the container, the surface and the conditions the label must survive, and we will specify face stock, adhesive and finish.
