Printed parchment paper — also called printed vegetable parchment or printed sulphate paper — is a semi-translucent, grease-resistant parchment sheet printed with patterns, marks or textures. It is the printed, decorative member of the vegetable parchment family: the base keeps parchment's oil- and moisture-resistance and its clean folding behaviour, while the print adds the colour and pattern that premium packaging, stationery and craft work are built around.

What is printed parchment paper

Printed parchment starts from vegetable parchment — a base paper made translucent and grease-resistant by a parchmentising treatment — and carries a design printed onto that sheet. The base gives the softly translucent, layered look that plain paper cannot, and the ink supplies the pattern, logo or colour. Because the sheet already resists grease and moisture, a printed parchment wrapper decorates and protects in one pass.

Key material properties

• Translucent, decorative face. The semi-transparent base lets layered prints and packaging show depth and soft light — the look that gift wrap, invitations and premium boxes are chosen for.
• Prints cleanly and holds detail. The dense base takes ink evenly, suiting gravure, flexographic, offset and digital printing in single- or multi-colour work.
• Grease and moisture resistance. The parchmentised sheet keeps oils and moisture from soaking through, so a printed wrapper protects its contents and stays clean on the outside.
• Dense and crease-resistant. The sheet holds a fold and does not crack along creases, so it wraps tightly around boxes, folds into sleeves and die-cuts cleanly.
• Plant-based material. Made from wood-pulp fibre, it offers the renewable, paper-based look that many premium brands prefer over plastic films.
