Food-grade Silicone Paper Base Stock

Food-grade silicone paper base stock is an uncoated food paper made to be the base for silicone coating — the stock a converter feeds through a coating line to produce the non-stick silicone papers used in baking and food packaging. It is a base paper, not a finished non-stick paper: release and anti-stick performance are created in a later step, when the converter applies the food-grade silicone coating.

What is silicone paper base stock

Silicone paper starts from a base paper engineered for one job: to take a silicone coating evenly and hold it through high-speed coating and converting. Food-grade silicone paper base stock is made from food-grade virgin wood pulp and is delivered uncoated, without fluorescent whitening agents, so the converter controls the coating chemistry and coat weight. It is chosen for how cleanly it runs on the coating line and how evenly it receives the silicone film — not for release value it carries only once coated.

Key base-stock properties

• Clean, uniform surface. A smooth sheet with even fibre distribution gives a thin silicone film an even bed, so coating weight stays consistent across the full width.
• Even oil absorbency. Controlled surface porosity and oil absorption let the silicone coating anchor evenly into the sheet — enough hold-out for a stable coating, without soaking through or migrating.
• Low linting. Surface strength keeps loose fibres and dust off the coating roll, which matters most on high-speed lines.
• Strength for high-speed running. Tensile, tear and burst strength, with clean, consistent reels, support stable unwind, coating and rewind with fewer web breaks.
• Flatness and dimensional stability. A flat sheet with a low tendency to wrinkle keeps the coated web true and easy to slit or re-reel.
• Food-contact safety. Made from food-grade materials and free from fluorescent whitening agents; meets international food-contact safety requirements. Compliance documentation is available offline on request.

How it is used after silicone coating

This base stock does not go into an end product on its own — it does its job once coated. After a converter applies the food-grade silicone coating, the paper is commonly converted into:

• Baking tray and sheet-pan liners, baking-mould liners
• Steamer basket liners and cake release paper
• Wrapping and interleaving paper for baked goods, pastries and confectionery

Choose the base stock for how it will be coated and used: unbleached grades for a natural tone and everyday food-paper use, bleached for a clean white base; lighter grammages for fine wrapping and interleaving, heavier grammages for baking liners that need more body.
