Cake cup base paper is a food-grade base paper made for forming into baking cups — cupcake liners, muffin cups and small dessert cups. It is the stock converters print, slit and die-cut into cup blanks, then fold and form into finished cups on pleating and cup-forming lines.

As a paper supplier and sourcing partner, Bofeng offers cake cup base paper on rolls or in sheets. Tell us the cup style you form and the bake your customers run, and we will match grammage, stiffness and surface to your line.

What is cake cup base paper

Cake cup base paper starts from clean, food-grade virgin wood pulp and is built for the fold-and-form work of a baking cup. It serves the cake and dessert side of baking-cup stock: where a rolled-rim product line centres on one rim-forming process, this paper covers the general run of cupcake, muffin and small dessert cup shapes. The sheet has to balance stiffness — so a formed cup holds its shape and stands upright in the oven — with enough flexibility to crease, pleat and form cleanly without cracking. For the buyer, what matters is what the finished paper does in the bake: it resists the oil of batters and baked goods, releases the cake cleanly from the cup wall and stays stable at the temperatures of ordinary baking.

Key material properties

  • Oil and grease resistance. Internal sizing keeps the fats in batters and doughs from soaking through the cup, so the cup keeps its look and the surface beneath stays clean.
  • Forming and stiffness. A uniform sheet with controlled stiffness creases and pleats cleanly, holds a stable cup shape and runs reliably at speed on automated forming lines.
  • Clean release after baking. The smooth surface lets the baked cake come away from the cup wall cleanly — the cake unmoulds without tearing and leaves no crumbs stuck to the paper.
  • Heat stability. Cake cup base paper performs reliably at the heat levels of ordinary baking in home and bakery ovens. The temperature ceiling depends on basis weight, so the grade is matched to the bake and the oven.
  • Printing and converting. The surface prints well and accepts creasing, die-cutting and forming; cup blanks can be printed with patterns and brand designs before they are formed.
  • Food-contact safety. The paper is made from food-grade materials that meet international food-contact safety requirements; supporting documentation for compliance review is available offline on request.

Supply forms and options

  • Rolls or sheets, white or coloured.
  • Custom grammage, slit widths and pre-printed cup designs on request.

Typical end uses

Because it resists oil and holds a clean formed shape, cake cup base paper is commonly converted into:

  • Cupcake liners and muffin cups
  • Small pastry cups and cake base cups for baking
  • Dessert cups for oven-baked desserts
  • Printed and custom baking cups for bakeries, cafés and dessert shops
