Absorbent paper is a bulky, high-absorption fibre base paper — the blotter and absorbent-core stock behind products that soak up liquid and hold it in. Inside the sheet, cellulose fibres form an open, porous web: capillary action draws water into the web quickly and the structure traps it, so the paper takes up several times its own weight within seconds. Bofeng supplies it in rolls to converters, who slit, laminate or die-cut it into finished absorbent articles such as cores, medical underpads and mask sheets.
As a paper manufacturer, Bofeng offers absorbent paper in rolls or sheets, from light blotting grades to wet-strength core stock. Tell us what the finished article must do — how fast it should absorb, whether it needs wet strength or an SAP layer, how soft the surface must be — and we will match grammage, colour and texture to your line.
What is absorbent paper
Absorbent paper is a specialty base paper built around one job: to take up water quickly and keep it from escaping. It starts from a clean cellulose-fibre furnish formed into a thick, open sheet, with fine capillaries left between the fibres rather than pressed flat, and liquid drawn into those capillaries is held in the web. Where water must stay locked in even under pressure — cores, pads and liners — a grade with superabsorbent polymer (SAP) is used: the polymer swells into a gel on contact with water and stops the liquid from seeping back out. Wet-strength treatment keeps the sheet intact and dimensionally stable while it is wet, so it can be handled, converted and used.
Key material properties
- Fast capillary absorption. The open fibre web pulls water in quickly and spreads it through the sheet, absorbing several times the paper's own weight in a short time.
- Water locking, with optional SAP. Grades with superabsorbent polymer swell into a gel as they take up water and hold it under pressure, preventing seep-back and re-wetting of the surface.
- Wet strength and stability. Wet-strength treated paper keeps its strength and shape when saturated, and stays intact during converting, packing and use.
- Softness and skin comfort. A loosely bonded, conformable surface feels soft against the skin, which suits hygiene, medical and beauty products worn or held against the body.
Supply forms and options
- Rolls or sheets, in the 45–120 gsm range
- White plus nine colours — black, brown, blue, green, purple, pink, red, yellow, orange — with plain, twill, cloth, chain, honeycomb or diamond surface texture
- Custom slit widths, roll lengths and packaging on request
Typical end uses
Because it absorbs quickly and holds the liquid, absorbent paper is commonly converted into:
- Hygiene cores and liners: absorbent cores and transfer layers for sanitary napkins, panty liners and nappies
- Medical and care products: disposable underpads, surgical towels and absorbent layers for wound dressings
- Beauty substrates: sheet-mask bases and cosmetic absorbent layers
- Wiping and liquid handling: absorbent wipes, kitchen paper towels and quick pick-up of spills and surface moisture
- Laboratory paper: bench paper that soaks up split reagents, samples and rinse water
- Packaging: a moisture-absorbing interlayer inside packaging for electronics, instruments and other humidity-sensitive goods
How to order and choose
Absorbent paper is supplied by grammage and width to match the converting line and the liquid it has to handle. For hygiene, medical, beauty and packaging converters, Bofeng keeps blotter-type and wet-strength grades across the 45–120 gsm range, on rolls or in sheets. Request samples to trial on your own line — tell us the end use, how the paper must behave when wet, and the grammage, and we will recommend a starting grade.
Bofeng New Materials supplies absorbent paper, in rolls and sheets, to converters and manufacturers of hygiene, medical, beauty and packaging products worldwide.
