Water-based coated unbleached kraft paper is a natural-brown kraft paper made from unbleached pulp and given a thin water-based barrier coating that resists oil, grease and moisture. What is water-based coated unbleached kraft paper

Unlike a plain unbleached kraft sheet, this paper carries a thin water-based (aqueous) coating applied to the natural-brown kraft base. The coating keeps oils, grease and moisture on the surface instead of letting them soak into the fibre, so the paper works as a stand-in for a plastic-film lamination in many barrier and food-contact uses. Because the base fibre is not bleached, the sheet keeps kraft's brown tone and strength, and it can be repulped where local recycling accepts coated papers.

Key material properties

• Oil and moisture resistance. The water-based coating forms a barrier that keeps oils, grease and moisture from soaking into the kraft fibre, so finished bags and wrappers stay clean on the outside and their contents stay protected.
• Strength and running performance. The unbleached kraft base carries high tensile and tear strength, so the coated paper creases, die-cuts, glues and runs reliably on fast bag-making and wrapping lines.
• Natural brown colour without bleaching. The unbleached base keeps kraft's natural tone with no bleaching step, and the coated surface prints cleanly by flexo, offset or gravure for kraft-style brand printing.
• Food-contact grades. Where the converted paper sits against food — burger wrappers, bag liners — food-grade versions meet food-contact safety requirements; supporting documentation for compliance review is available offline on request.
• Recyclability and controlled breathability. The water-based coating is applied from a water carrier without organic solvent. Compared with a sealed plastic film, the coated paper keeps some breathability, which helps avoid condensation in certain dry-goods and produce packs, and the fibre can be repulped where local mills accept coated grades.
