Application of glassine paper in pharmaceutical packaging

Semi-transparent paper, with its unique oil resistance, semi-transparent characteristics and good printing suitability, has become an important material in the field of pharmaceutical packaging.

Functions

  1. Translucent: the paper is light and even, translucent but not completely transparent, not only can vaguely show the internal products, but also protect the privacy of the drug information, while giving the packaging an elegant visual effect.
  2. Oil- and water-resistant: the surface has been specially treated with good oil- and water-resistant properties, which effectively prevents the drugs from contacting with external grease or water and keeps the drugs dry and clean.
  3. solid and smooth paper: tough texture, smooth and delicate surface, not only easy to print exquisite patterns and text, but also help to enhance the overall texture of the packaging, in line with the high-end image of pharmaceutical packaging needs.
  4. Dimensional stability: Although it may lose some of its strength and stability when exposed to water, glassine paper can maintain good dimensional stability and folding resistance under normal storage conditions, ensuring the integrity of the packaging.

Applications

  1. Pharmaceutical inner packaging
    • Tablet / capsule sub-packaging: glassine paper is often used to make single-dose or small packages of tablets, capsules, such as blister packages in the inner layer of the aluminium-plastic composite film, or independent pouch packaging, not only to clearly show the number of drugs inside, but also to prevent direct contact between the drug and the external environment.
    • Ointment tube liner: in some ointment or ointment packaging, glassine paper can be used as the liner material for the inner wall of the tube, which not only ensures the isolation between the contents and the metal tube, but also provides good visibility and facilitates the patients to observe the remaining dosage.
  2. Outer packaging of drugs
    • Encapsulation of drug instructions: glassine paper can be used for the separate encapsulation of drug instructions, which not only protects the instructions from damage, but also enables patients to read the contents roughly without opening the package.
    • Medicine gift box lining: In the gift packaging of high-grade medicines or health care products, glassine paper can be used as the lining material to increase the delicacy of the packaging, while the medicines vaguely visible through the glassine paper further enhance the value of the gift.
    • Medicine labels and sealing stickers: glassine paper can be made into medicine bottles, boxes on the label or sealing stickers, its translucent characteristics make the information on the label clearly readable, while providing a certain degree of tamper-proof function.
  3. Medical Device Packaging
    • Medical device accessory packaging: for small, precise medical device components or consumables, such as test strips, catheters, syringes, etc., glassine paper can be made into inner packaging bags, which can not only visually display the product, but also provide the necessary protection.
    • Surgical Instrument Set Packaging: In a multi-layer packaging system for surgical instrument sets, glassine paper can be used for wrapping or spacing in the middle layer, which facilitates quick identification of the internal instruments by medical staff, while maintaining the neatness and professionalism of the overall packaging.
