MG Tissue Paper

MG tissue paper is a lightweight specialty paper machine-glazed on an MG (Yankee) cylinder, which gives it one mirror-glazed, high-gloss side while the reverse stays matte and ink-receptive. What is MG tissue paper

MG tissue is dried against a highly polished MG (Yankee) cylinder, and the finish of the cylinder transfers to the wet sheet as a smooth, mirror-like gloss on the side that touches it. The reverse side, which never meets the cylinder, stays matte and slightly textured, so it absorbs ink quickly. The result is a single thin sheet with two working faces: a glossy face for appearance, and a matte face for printing, gluing or laminating. This single-sided gloss — glossy on one side, plain on the other — is what sets machine-glazed tissue apart from machine-finished tissue, which is smoothed on both sides.

Key material properties

• One mirror-glazed side. The glazed face is bright and mirror-like, with strong reflectivity; the matte reverse makes a quiet contrast, so wrapped boxes and assembled goods gain depth and layering.
• Soft, with strength. A balanced fibre furnish keeps the sheet soft and fine to the touch while retaining the tensile and tear strength a 14 gsm grade needs to run on wrapping and converting lines.
• Distinctive two-face printing. The glossy side prints with clean, even colour, while the matte side pulls ink in quickly for a softer, different print effect — both faces can be printed for deliberately different results.
• Easy to convert and finish. The sheet embosses, die-cuts, foil-stamps, folds and pleats cleanly, and holds its shape well in crimping and forming.
• Clean, renewable material. MG tissue is recyclable and biodegradable, and made without fluorescent whitening agents.
